Oscar and his office associates specialize in the custom design and construction detailing necessary for new and remodel additions, particularly on difficult hillside properties. He considers no project too small in concept to design, detail and execute to meet his clients’ needs.

Many of the large scale residential projects found in Oscar’s portfolio resulted from referrals from previous clients’ small scale remodels or design projects.

Oscar is established as an architect with a great understanding and knowledge of the complex nature of designing residential projects on difficult hillside properties. He believes that no project is too small to substantially influence a family’s living space in a positive way. Oscar works in a sensitive and collaborative manner to meet the client’s needs and fulfill their design vision for their home.

Oscar welcomes the opportunity to remodel, add to, and enhance existing residences. Opening indoor spaces to embrace the outdoor surroundings and make positive use of every square foot of the property and view. Many existing residences do not take full advantage of the site they sit on, do not maximize available views, and miss out on the wonderful outdoor climate that Californian's love and enjoy.

There is no existing structure or property that could not use some new design, modification, addition or change overtime to help make the daily living experience more enjoyable to all who use it. How can we work together to help make it happen for you?

A graduate of Arizona State University’s College of Architecture, Oscar McGraw opened his office in Malibu in 1989. Prior to that time he had worked with Frank Hendler Design in Malibu as an Architectural Associate in charge of all production and working drawings produced by the office from 1975 until 1988.

Frank Hendler was a master carpenter, contractor and Architect well known for his custom residences built on steep, difficult hillside lots. Working with Frank was critically beneficial to Oscar reaching a more complete understanding of the construction process as well as effective and efficient selection of materials and manufactured elements that are cost-effective, sustainable, have a low impact on the environment and require very little maintenance over time.

Oscar and Frank completed numerous residential and commercial design and build projects in California, Colorado and New Mexico, until Frank Hendler’s untimely passing in 1988. Since establishing his own firm, Oscar has specialized in the design of custom residential projects, residential remodel and addition design.
